Be part of S.p.l.a.t.!!
At Forest S.p.l.a.t., we encourage you to visit us at one of our selected outdoor locations.
Pre-School and nursery settings, toddler groups, reception classes, primary schools, secondary schools and youth groups, are all welcome to visit us.
Bringing the forest area alive is what we are looking to do, and YOU will do that! Making bows and arrows, whittling with knives, learning how to safely light a fire, are just a few things you can take part in, when joining us for a Forest School Session.
On The day of your visit, you will be given a safety talk, and a short introduction about caring for nature. From here as a team, we will enter the forest area. You will be given the opportunity to explore the forest before re-grouping for some warm up games. Team building will be our next stage, undertaking a task with your team which has been set out for you. Using the various team building areas your team will have the opportunity to be involved in hands on group work which will be based also around communication, speech and language, and co-operation skills. From then, there will be some free choice activities, before it is time to gather ourselves around the fire pit to cook marshmallows, drink hot chocolate and reflect on what we have gained from our outdoor experience, our feelings and of course, what you would you like to do in future visits.
Alternatively, we can visit you!
Many prefer this option as it gives the children the opportunity to feel comfortable and stay close their own environment.
School or setting visits are a good way for the children and staff to explore their own outdoor space but, to also explore new
ways in which to interact with their environment through play and education. All activities will be led by our Forest School leader
and he will provide all the equipment needed for the days events. Before a visit is arranged, our practitioner will make arrangements with you to see your setting, so he can view the area and draw a map of the grounds he will be using. On his arrival he will talk you through what events he has in mind, and any ideas or themes you would like to add into the day. The session visit(s) can link in with term planning and it naturally falls in line with the curriculum. The Forest School Leader will carry out his own risk assessment and will provide his own first aid kit. On the day, the practitioner will arrive at least half an hour before the time so that the setting up can be done before the arrival of the group.
(Please note, dependent on your location, additional travel expenses may apply. This will be discussed with you when booking a setting visit).
